About Malar Clinic – Medical & Healthcare in Salem
The clinic is tucked away on Sivasami Street, and if you aren’t looking for No. 31/11, you might walk right past it. Being so close to the Town Railway Station means there’s a constant hum of engines and whistles in the background, which we’ve all just gotten used to over time. It’s a small space, really. We have a few benches for people to sit on while they wait to see the doctor, and the walls are a plain off-white color that we probably should have repainted last summer. Most people who come in are locals or folks just getting off the train who aren’t feeling well. We don't have a big reception desk, just a small table with a ledger and a telephone that rings more often than you’d think. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the hallway if three or four people arrive at once, but everyone is usually patient. The ceiling fans work hard to keep the air moving, though on those really humid days, it’s a bit of a struggle. We’ve got a small cupboard for basic medicines and a sink that drips if you don’t turn the handle just right. It’s the kind of place where we know the neighbors by name and we see the same kids growing up year after year. It isn't a high-tech facility, just a local clinic doing what it can for the people nearby in this busy part of town.
