Maersk Logistics has its local office over at 37 Thiruvengadam Street in the Gugai area of Salem. Salem is a big hub for things like textiles and steel, so we end up dealing with a lot of that kind of stuff on a daily basis. The office is pretty basic. We’ve got our computers, a few printers that run almost constantly, and some chairs for when drivers need to sit and wait for their paperwork to be finished. Gugai is a busy neighborhood, and Thiruvengadam Street always has something going on, whether it's people moving goods or just daily traffic. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights, just a small place where we get our work done. Most of our day is spent looking at schedules and making sure the logistics for the local area are being handled correctly. It’s a lot of data entry and making sure the codes match up with the cargo. Sometimes it gets a bit loud with the street noise, but we just shut the door and keep working. We are just a group of regular employees who know the shipping business and try to keep things running smoothly. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy office; we just want to make sure the work gets done and the shipments move out like they are supposed to. It’s just a normal office in a normal part of Salem, and we like it that way.
