This college is a major part of the Vincent neighborhood in Salem, located right on Cherry Road. We are right in the thick of the city's activity. Since we are an autonomous institution, we handle all our own exams and schedules, which keeps our office staff quite busy throughout the year. The campus is full of old, large trees that give a lot of shade. This is a big help because the heat in Salem can be quite intense during the day. You’ll always find students sitting in groups under those trees. The buildings are built in the traditional government style, very solid but definitely showing their age after so many years. We have many different departments for things like history, literature, and commerce. The corridors are long and can be a bit noisy when classes change. Every morning, Cherry Road is packed with students jumping off buses to make it to their first lecture. We have a lot of students, so there’s a constant energy about the place. Many of the professors have been teaching here for decades and have their own particular ways of running their classrooms. We don't have the newest technology in every room, but the libraries are well-stocked and the rooms are big enough for everyone. Many families in Salem have a history with this college, with multiple generations having passed through these same hallways. It’s a place with deep roots in the local community.
