You can find Cpt Foods & Spices at 71, Thammannan Road in Arisipalayam. It’s a typical street here, always busy with people and scooters zooming past. Our shop is one of many, but we’ve been here long enough that most people know us. We deal with various foods and spices that come in from different parts of the region. Most of the day is spent grinding, mixing, or just bagging things up for customers. The machines make a lot of noise, so you have to speak up when you're inside. We don't have any fancy display cases. Instead, we have large bins and bags open so people can see what they are buying. It smells like turmeric and chili most of the time, which can make you sneeze if you're not used to it. We have a few regulars who come in every week for their supply. We chat about their families and what they're cooking for dinner. It’s a nice way to spend the day. The back room is where we keep the bulk stock, and it’s always a bit of a puzzle trying to find space for new arrivals. We do our own bookkeeping on a simple ledger, usually at the end of the day when things quiet down. It’s a modest business and we like it that way. No big frills, just honest work on Thammannan Road.
