Our branch is located at Sastha Nivas on Lakshmi Road. If you know the Fairlands area, we’re at No. 186-B. It's a standard bank setup. We spend a lot of time behind the counters dealing with passbooks and cash. The building itself is a bit older, but it serves the purpose. Most of the people who come in live right here in the neighborhood. We see the same faces every week, mostly folks coming in to deposit or check their balances. It gets pretty crowded on Monday mornings. Sometimes the line stretches out a bit, but we try to keep things moving as fast as the systems allow. We don't have many chairs in the waiting area, so people mostly just stand and chat while they wait. The fans keep things cool enough during the summer. I’ve worked here for a few years now, and the routine is pretty much the same every day. We open the shutters early and lock up once the accounts are balanced in the evening. There’s a tea shop nearby where we usually get our break snacks. It's not a flashy office, just a local bank where people keep their savings. We know which customers like to talk and which ones just want to get their business done and leave. It’s just a normal part of life here on Lakshmi Road. The printers are a bit loud and the pens always seem to go missing, but we manage.
