Annapoorana Medical College & Hospital

Annapoorana Medical College & Hospital is located out on Sankari Main Road, which is the NH-47 highway in the Veerapandi Union area of Salem. It is a very large place because it has to fit both a full hospital and a college for medical students. Because of the size, the campus feels like its own little world tucked away from the main city center of Salem. You can hear the constant sound of the highway nearby, with trucks moving goods across the state. The buildings are spread out and there is a lot of walking involved to get from one department to another. We have students in white coats everywhere, rushing to their classes or helping out in the wards. It is a place where there is always something going on, whether it is a lecture or someone coming into the emergency room. The hospital part is always busy with people from the surrounding villages and towns. We have a lot of rooms and many different floors. It is not a shiny, new corporate building; it is a working institution that has seen a lot of use over the years. We keep the place running 24 hours a day, so there is never a quiet moment. The canteen stays busy and the parking lots are always full of cycles and cars. We just try to keep everything organized and make sure the work gets done.
