Annamalair Store

We've been here at 30 Omalur Main Road for quite some time now. People usually know us by the Five Roads intersection, which gets pretty busy during the morning rush. A regular store like this requires effort to keep things organized on the shelves, though things get a bit cluttered sometimes when new stock arrives. My family started Annamalair Store because there wasn't much else around this part of town back then. Now, there are buildings everywhere. We open up early, usually before the heat really sets in, and stay until the streetlights come on. It isn't a big fancy place with glass windows or anything like that. Just a simple door and some old wooden counters where we talk to neighbors. Sometimes we run out of things, but we try to get them back in by the next week. The floor is a bit worn down from people walking in and out all day. Most of our regulars live just a few streets away, so we know their faces well. We don't really do much advertising or anything. Most folks just see the sign when they're stuck in traffic at the junction and decide to stop in. It’s a lot of work keeping up with everything, but it keeps us busy. We mostly just focus on getting through the day and making sure the inventory is counted right. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s ours. I guess we’ll be here for many more years.
