Sounak Farmer Producer Company Limited is situated in Goalkhore, which is over in the Barharwa area. Prasant Kumar Das is the one running things, and he is the son of Sudhan Das. We are a family-oriented group in a lot of ways because most of the farmers here have known each other for generations. Goalkhore is where we grow our crops and where we decided to set up this company. We wanted a way to make sure our hard work actually resulted in some decent money for the local homes. It’s a lot of back-and-forth between the fields and the small office space we use. Prasant spends a lot of time making sure the paperwork is done right, which isn't always easy. We don't use big words or have fancy goals. We just want to sell our produce and buy our supplies without getting cheated. Barharwa is a busy enough place, and being a farmer producer company gives us a bit more standing when we go to the market. We are just regular people. We have good days and bad days just like anyone else. If you come by, you’ll see us working or maybe just resting under the shade when the sun gets too hot. We don't have much to show off, just our crops and our community. It is a long road ahead, but we are walking it together.
