Ravi Kirana is right in the middle of Village Sonbarsa. It is a small place but we keep it stocked with the basics that everyone around here needs for their kitchens. You will find bags of rice and dal stacked against the walls and various jars of sweets on the counter for the kids who stop by after school. The village is usually quiet except for the sounds of cattle or the occasional tractor passing by on the dirt road. We open up pretty early because people like to get their shopping done before they head out to the fields. The light inside the shop is a bit dim but we know where everything is kept. Sometimes we sit on the wooden bench outside when things are slow and talk to whoever is passing by. It is not a complicated business. We just write down what people owe in the register and make sure we don't run out of salt or oil. When the monsoon comes the roof leaks a tiny bit in the corner but we just put a bucket there and keep going. Most of the people who come in are neighbors we have known for years. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. It is just a simple village store where you can get what you need without any fuss. We try to keep things honest and just do our bit for the folks living in Sonbarsa.
