Narayan Rice Mil

The mill is located in Saharsa, right near the main Saharsa Road. You can’t miss it because of the sound of the machines running all day. Narayan Rice Mil has been a part of this landscape for quite a few years. We take the raw paddy from the local farmers and process it until it’s ready for the pot. It’s a noisy environment, and there’s always a bit of rice husk flying around in the air. We have a small crew of workers who know the machines inside out. Sometimes the equipment breaks down and we have to spend half a day fixing a belt or a motor, but that’s just life at a mill. We work according to the seasons. When the harvest comes in, we are working almost around the clock. The rest of the year is a bit slower, mostly just maintenance and shipping out what we have stored in the warehouse. The office is just a small room with a wooden table and a few chairs for visitors. We don’t have any fancy signs, just the work getting done. We’ve known most of the farmers around here since they were kids. It’s a community thing as much as it is a business. We just try to keep the quality consistent so people keep bringing their grain to us. It’s honest work and it keeps us all busy through the year.
