Surya Mutualhelp Foundation

Surya Mutualhelp Foundation is based in a village called Dhikkatapri, out in the Dhikka Kalan area of Sarsawa. It is a rural spot, so things move a bit slower than they do in the big cities like Delhi. We don't have a massive office building with many floors. Instead, we work out of a simple place that fits in with the rest of the village. Most of our day is spent talking to the people who live and work nearby. There is a lot of dust and the roads aren't always in the best shape, but we like it here. We don't have a website with fancy photos or a marketing team telling us what we should say to people. We just know our neighbors and they know us. The work we do is based on what people in the village need right then and there. Sometimes we are sitting on the porch or in a small room with just a single fan going to keep us cool. It is not corporate at all. We wear our regular clothes and speak plainly to everyone. Sarsawa is our home, so it made sense to start this work here. We don't have big budgets or fancy equipment. We just use what we have to help out whenever we can. It can be hard work, but it feels right to us. People stop by on their way to the market.
