It's a busy street, especially when the kids are coming or going from school. You can hear the school bells and the noise of the traffic from our windows. We have been in this spot for a bit now. Our office is quite plain. We have some wooden tables and old-style cabinets where we keep all the files for the members. It’s a local place for local people. Most of our members are parents or workers from the Janak Nagar area. They come in after work or during their lunch breaks. We don't do anything too complicated here. It is just about managing the small savings and looking after the paperwork. Saharanpur is a town where everyone knows someone, so we get a lot of people coming in because their cousin or neighbor told them about us. We don't have a receptionist in a suit. Usually, one of us just looks up from our paperwork and asks how we can help. The room is sometimes a bit cramped with all the paper, but we know where everything is. It’s a practical way to run things. We are just part of the everyday life on Wali Gali, doing our bit without much fuss. The office stays open until we finish the day’s ledger entries and make sure the place is locked up tight.
