About New Era Wood Carving Art – Industrial Plant & Machines in Saharanpur
We are over at Lakhi Gate II, specifically Shop No. 11/2710/2, where we do all our wood carving. The shop is usually covered in sawdust by noon and the smell of wood is everywhere. New Era Wood Carving Art isn't a showroom; it's more of a workshop where we actually sit down and carve things. We’ve been here for a while and the locals know the sound of our tools clicking away. It's a small space, so we have to be careful where we step so we don't trip over a piece of timber or a half-finished frame. Some pieces take a long time and others go quickly, depending on the wood we get that week. We use hand tools mostly because that's how we learned. Sometimes the wood has knots or cracks we have to work around, which can be frustrating but that's just how it goes. We don't really do much advertising because the work takes up all our time anyway. People usually just stop by the shop at Lakhi Gate when they see the door open. It’s dusty work and our hands are always rough, but it feels good to see a plain block of wood turn into something else. We try to keep the shop open late if a project is behind, which happens more often than I’d like to admit. It’s just us here, working away and trying to make things that look decent.
