Maya Garments

Maya Garments is right in the heart of Nehru Market in Saharanpur. If you’ve ever been to the market, you know how crowded and lively it gets. We are right there in the thick of it. My father opened this shop a long time ago, and I’ve been working here since I was a teenager. We sell all kinds of clothes, mostly focusing on what local families need for their day-to-day lives. Nehru Market is a place where everyone knows everyone, so a lot of our day is spent chatting with neighbors and old customers. We don't have a fancy website or a big corporate office. It’s just the shop and the stockroom in the back. Sometimes the fan makes a bit of noise, and the lighting could be better, but it’s our space. We try to keep a good variety of sizes because people come in all shapes. Saharanpur is a traditional place, so we make sure to have plenty of ethnic wear alongside more modern styles. It gets really hot here in the summer, so we try to keep the shop as cool as possible for anyone coming in. We don't have any big speeches about our goals. We just want to make sure the people of Saharanpur have a place to buy their clothes without any stress. It’s a straightforward business built on many years of being in the same spot. We just keep moving forward one day at a time.
