Lucky Garments

If you walk down Pul Dalmandi on the Matia Mahal main road, you'll see us right opposite the Kanahiya Lal Market. Lucky Garments has been in this spot for quite a while. The area is always noisy with rickshaws and people shouting, but it’s home to us. The shop isn't very big, so we have to stack the boxes pretty high. Sometimes I worry they might tip over, but we’ve gotten good at balancing them. We sell mostly clothes for kids and men. My father used to run this place, and now I’m here most days. The floor is a bit uneven, and the paint is peeling in the corners, but the clothes are kept clean in plastic wraps. We don't have a big sign, just the name Lucky Garments painted above the door. Most days start at ten when we roll up the shutter. It takes a while to get the tea from the stall next door, but once we have that, we're ready for the day. Customers come in and out, some just to ask for directions to the market across the street. We don't mind. It’s part of being in such a busy location. The summers are tough because it gets really hot inside, but we have two old fans that keep the air moving. We try to stock whatever people are asking for lately. It’s just us, doing our daily business in this corner of the city. We aren't fancy, just a local shop.
