Kareem & Sons

We’ve been at Dehradun Chowk for a long time now. Most people know the area because of Bajaj Sweets, and we are right there nearby in Khanalampura. It’s a busy spot, always someone honking or people walking by with bags of snacks. My sons and I run the place together. It started out much smaller, just a tiny room really, but we’ve grown a bit over the years. We aren't big on fancy talk or complicated business plans. We just open up the shop in the morning, sweep the front, and start our day. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy to worry about that. Khanalampura is a tight-knit neighborhood, and we know most of the people who walk past our door. We deal with all sorts of things throughout the day, and no two days are quite the same. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit on the stools outside until it comes back on. It’s a family thing, so there’s always someone around to help out if one of us is busy. We don’t do much advertising; people just know where to find us. We’ve got a lot of old stories about this chowk and how it’s changed since we first moved in. It’s home for us, and the work keeps the kids busy and the family together. We just try to keep things moving as best as we can without making a fuss about it.
