Janta Health Care sits right in Choudhary Market on Lakhnauti Road. This part of Gangoh is always moving, especially on market days when the tractors and bikes are everywhere. We are in the Saharanpur district, and the clinic is pretty much what you’d expect for a local spot. It’s a functional space. We don’t have any marketing people or a big corporate office behind us. It’s just the staff here in the market, opening up early to beat the heat. The floors are stone, and we sweep them a few times a day because of all the dust coming off Lakhnauti Road. We have a basic setup with some cabinets for supplies and a small area where people can sit and wait their turn. Most of the people who come here are workers from the market or families living in the nearby streets. We know the rhythms of the day—when it’s going to be packed and when we can finally sit down for a quick cup of tea. There is always someone coming in with a minor scrape or a fever, and we just do what we can to help them out. It’s not a shiny hospital; it’s just a small health care spot that’s been here for the community for quite some time. We keep the lights on and the door open, and that’s about the extent of our plan for the day-to-day work we do here.
