Jai Hind Wooden Industries

Working at Jai Hind Wooden Industries means you get used to the smell of sawdust pretty fast. We are located near the Old Thana Mandi. It’s a crowded area, especially on market days when the trucks are trying to squeeze through the narrow lanes. Our mail goes to Post Box 87. Most of the time, the floor is covered in wood shavings. We don’t bother sweeping every hour because it just piles up again anyway. It is a loud place. There is always someone cutting or sanding something. My hands are usually a bit rough from the work. We just make what people ask for and try to get it done on time. It isn't a showroom or anything fancy. Just a workshop with stacks of planks against the walls. Sometimes it gets so hot in the summer that we have to take extra breaks just to breathe. The Old Thana Mandi has changed a lot, but the noise stays the same. We just stay busy in our corner. People know where we are if they need something made from wood. We don’t spend much time on the computer. It’s mostly just physical labor and making sure the measurements are right. It’s a basic life here, nothing more than that. We just show up, do the work, and hope the machines don’t break down because repairs take forever around here.
