Nehru Market is always busy, and we’ve been here at Shop No. 19-20 for quite a while now. It’s a double shop so we have a bit more room than some of the others around us, which helps when things get crowded on the weekends. People come in looking for all sorts of clothes, and we just try to keep the racks full of what’s in style. It gets pretty hot in the summer afternoons, but the fans keep things moving. We usually spend the mornings unpacking new stock and fixing the displays. Most of our regulars are from the nearby streets, and they stop by just to see what’s new or to have a quick chat while they look through the kurtas and suits. The market has changed over the years, but we’re still right here in the same spot. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular shop where you can find something decent to wear without a lot of fuss. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to sit outside for a bit, but that’s just how it is here. We keep the prices fair because we know everyone in the area. If you’re walking through Nehru Market, you’ll probably see our sign near the main walkway. We stay open late most days because that’s when people finish work and have time to browse. It’s a lot of work but we like being part of the local scene.
