Our workshop is down in Unit 1 of the industrial estate in Deoband. You have to head toward Reti Chowk in the Pathanpura area to find us. It’s a gritty part of town where a lot of metalwork happens. We spend our days dealing with steel and blades. The air always smells a bit like grinding metal and oil. It’s a tough job and your hands stay dirty no matter how much you wash them. We’ve got a few old grinders that have been with us since the beginning. They make a lot of sparks and the noise is constant. Most of our customers are farmers or people who sell to farmers. They need blades that actually cut, so that’s what we focus on. We don’t have a fancy website or anyone sitting at a front desk. If you want to talk to us, you just come to the shop and find someone wearing an apron. It gets very dusty with all the metal filings, so we have to sweep a lot. The industrial estate can be a bit confusing if you’ve never been here before, as all the units look the same. We’ve got our name painted on the door, though it’s fading a bit now. We just keep doing what we know. It’s steady work and it keeps the lights on. Deoband is a busy place for this kind of stuff and the work keeps us fairly occupied through the seasons.
