Operating Yasvi Online Flowers Company out of Raghav Plaza on Court Road is a bit of a whirlwind every single morning. The space is always smelling like cut stems and wet floral foam. We start early, usually before the sun is really up, because that’s when the fresh stuff arrives. It’s a lot of clipping, sorting, and making sure everything has enough water. The floors are almost always a little bit damp, and there are leaves everywhere that we have to sweep up five times a day. Even though people find us online, the actual work is very hands-on and messy. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at the computer screen to see what needs to go out next. Then we’re back to the tables, putting things together. The plaza gets busy, so there’s a lot of foot traffic passing by our door. Sometimes people poke their heads in just to look at the colors. We aren't a big corporation with delivery trucks everywhere; it’s just a few of us and a couple of bikes for the local runs. We try to get the orders right and out the door before the afternoon heat hits. It’s tiring work, especially on holidays, but we like the routine of it. It’s just us, the flowers, and a lot of scissors.
