If you ever find yourself at Dehradun Chowk in Saharanpur, you’ll probably see Choudhary Tour & Travels & Transport. We are situated right opposite the P.W.D. Office. It’s a very noisy corner because of all the vehicles passing through to and from Dehradun. The office isn't much to look at, just a practical space where we handle the transport bookings and talk to the drivers. Dealing with trucks and tours means there is always something going on. One minute it’s quiet, the next minute three people are asking about rates or delivery times. Being across from the government office helps people find us easily. We’ve had this shop here for quite some time now. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are usually too busy with the paperwork and the keys to worry about that. My brother and I, or sometimes a cousin, sit here through the heat of the afternoon. We drink a lot of tea from the stall nearby while waiting for the next job to come in. It’s a basic operation. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the phone and the people who know our name. Transport is a tough business with the petrol prices and the traffic, but we keep the wheels moving. Saharanpur is home, and Dehradun Chowk is where we spend most of our waking hours. Usually, we close up late when the traffic finally slows down.
