P.W.D. (Road And Building Department)

We are the P.W.D. Road And Building Department located over in Modasa. Our office is at 12, Vivekanand Society, which is very close to the main bus stand. Being near the bus stand in Sabarkantha means it’s always easy for people to find us, even if they are coming from outside the town. We’ve been in this society for a long time. The office is basically where all the planning for the local roads and public buildings happens. We have several rooms filled with old ledger books and modern computers where we track the budget and the construction progress. Most of the staff here are locals who care about how the roads in Sabarkantha look. We spend a lot of time outdoors checking on building sites or measuring sections of the road that need fixing. It’s a hands-on job. Sometimes the office gets a bit messy with soil samples or building materials left in the corner. We don’t mind it because it shows we are actually working. The atmosphere is fairly relaxed, though we do get busy when new projects get approved. We see ourselves as just another part of the Modasa community. People stop by to complain about a street or ask about a new building, and we do what we can. It’s a steady, everyday kind of operation for the department here.
