Maitree Minerals

Out in Asal, near Samlaji, the landscape is mostly rocks and dirt, which is perfect for what we do at Maitree Minerals. We are tucked away in the Sabarkantha district, specifically in the Himatnagar tehsil. The work here is heavy and loud. We deal with raw minerals that come straight from the ground. Most of our days are spent coordinating with truck drivers and making sure the grinding machines are running without making too much trouble. It is a hot place to work, especially when the sun is right over the hills. We have a small shed where we keep our tools and another one for the bags of processed minerals. There is always a layer of dust on the windows, no matter how much we clean them. We have a small crew from the local villages who help with the loading. We don't really have a boss who sits in a fancy chair; everyone just mucks in and helps out when a big load needs to be moved. Usually, we are just happy when the machines don't break down in the middle of a job. It is a rough kind of business, but it keeps us going and we like being out here in the open rather than stuck in a city office. We just take things one day at a time and do our work until the sun goes down.
