Sri Gopal Pustak Bhandar

If you are coming from the Samastipur station, you will find us right on the Main Road. It’s a very busy area with people always rushing to catch trains or rickshaws. Our shop, Sri Gopal Pustak Bhandar, has been a fixture here for quite some time now. We deal mostly in educational books and general stationery for students. The shelves are quite tall, so we have an old wooden ladder we use to reach the stuff on top. It gets quite hectic in the mornings when the newspapers arrive and the regulars come in to pick up their daily copies. We don't have fancy displays, just piles of books and stacks of brown registers. The noise from the Station Road traffic is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We see a lot of students coming in looking for competitive exam guides or basic school supplies like pens and ink. Sometimes someone will come in looking for a specific type of notebook they used years ago. It’s a small space, and we’ve squeezed in as much as we possibly can. My father started this business, and now I mostly look after things during the day. We try to keep the most popular items near the front so people can get in and out quickly. There is no air conditioning, just a couple of old fans that keep the air moving. It’s a honest day's work for us.
