Stride India Farmers And Horticulturists Welfare Association is out in VPO Bharatgarh, in the Rupnagar district. If you live around here, you know it’s all about the land. We are a group for the farmers and people who grow fruit. It’s not a fancy office with air conditioning and glass walls. We are usually out in the dirt or sitting in a small room with the windows open. We started this because farming is tough and people need a place to come together and talk about their problems. Whether it's a crop failing or prices being too low, we try to listen and help out. We share what we know about different plants and soil. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. You’ll often see us with muddy boots and tired faces, but that’s just the nature of the work. We don't have a big corporate structure or a board of directors in suits. It’s just us, the local farmers and growers. We have meetings that sometimes turn into long lunches. It’s a bit informal, but it works for us. We just want to see the farms in Bharatgarh do well. We don't make big promises, we just offer a bit of solidarity and practical help. Sometimes the weather ruins our plans, but we just start again the next day. That's just how life is on the farm.
