Our place is at H No 1470-B in Sector 61. It is part of the Chandigarh Housing Board Flats, and the building is easy to spot because of the red colour. Saini Rajeev Kumar Architect is the name on the records. Being in the red flats makes it easier to tell people where to go when they are trying to find the house number. The area is quite residential, so you hear children playing outside and the sound of scooters passing by at all hours. Inside 1470-B, the rooms are filled with rolls of paper and various tools for measuring things. It is not a showroom; it is a place where actual work happens every day. The walls are a bit plain, but we have some drawings pinned up here and there to keep track of what is going on. The lighting is good near the main window, which is where the main desk sits. Sector 61 is a comfortable part of town to be in. We have been here long enough that we know the local tea stall owner and the guy who delivers the newspapers. It’s a busy life but we enjoy the rhythm of the neighborhood. Sometimes the stairs feel longer than they actually are, especially at the end of a long day. We just keep our heads down and focus on the projects we have in front of us. It is an honest day’s work in a red flat.
