If you’re looking for Hazari Trading Co., you’ll have to head over to Dhobi Talao. We are located in Gazdar House, which is a very old building on J. S. S. Road. You have to walk up to the second floor and find Room No. 4. The building has that old Mumbai charm, with high ceilings and heavy doors, but it also has its quirks like the uneven floors and the plumbing that acts up sometimes, which can be a real headache. Our room is packed with ledges and shelves full of all sorts of trading items. It’s a bit of a maze inside, and if you don’t know where things are, you could spend all day searching for a single item. We’ve been here for years, and the space has a certain smell of old paper and wood. There’s a big window that looks out onto the street, and we can watch the chaos of Dhobi Talao from above. We usually keep the door open to let some air in during the day. It’s just a couple of us managing the orders and talking to suppliers. We use old ledgers alongside the computers because some habits are hard to break after so long.
