Gurmit Singh Bawa Architect is our place at House Number HM-6 in Phase-2, Sector-54 of SAS Nagar Mohali. It is a residential area, so working here feels like being part of the neighborhood. Since the office is part of the house, the commute is very short, but it also means we are always near our work. Locals usually see us coming and going at odd hours because we have been here for a good while. Natural light fills the workspace during the morning hours. We have our drawing boards set up along with a few computers for the technical stuff. You won't find a corporate office with a receptionist here; usually, someone just answers the door when the bell rings. Outside the window, a small garden is nice to look at when we need a break from the screen. Stacks of magazines about building and design sit on the floor because the shelves are already full. If the internet is slow, we just sit and talk about the projects instead of staring at a blank screen. The furniture is a bit mismatched, but it is comfortable for long hours of sitting. Keeping things simple is how we operate. Most of the time, we just put our heads down and work on whatever comes across the desk. It feels personal and lived-in, which suits the way we work. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done and we are happy with that setup.
