St Thomas English School

You can find us at El 13 in Basanti Colony, specifically within the Kalinga Vihahar Chhend Campus area of Rourkela. This part of town is pretty busy, so there’s always something going on outside our gate. The school itself is a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to it. We have different sections for the younger kids and the older ones, and they all seem to blend together during the lunch break. The walls are covered with drawings and old charts that have been there for years. We don’t have a massive marketing team or anything like that. It’s just the teachers, the principal, and the ground staff making sure the toilets are clean and the water cooler is full. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just open all the windows to let the breeze in. It gets loud, especially when the primary classes are doing their rhymes. We have a lot of stairs, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired from climbing them. The playground isn't huge, but it's enough for a game of tag or some football. We’ve had the same people working here for a long time, so we’re more like a messy family than a corporation. We just focus on the daily stuff, like making sure the kids have their notebooks and that the gate is locked at the right time. It's a simple school life in Rourkela.
