Furniture House

Furniture House is located right at Masjid Chowk in Bisra. If you know this area at all, you know it can get pretty crowded and noisy around the chowk, especially in the late evenings when everyone is out. Our shop is packed with all sorts of things, from heavy wooden chairs to big cupboards and bed frames. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes because we try to fit as much as we can on the floor so people can actually see the quality of what we have. There is always that distinct smell of fresh saw dust and wood polish in the air when you walk in. We aren't a fancy showroom with bright lights and soft music playing. It’s more of a real workshop and a store combined into one. Sometimes you’ll hear the loud sound of a hammer or a saw coming from the back area where we fix things up. We spend most of our time talking to people who walk in looking for something sturdy for their homes. Bisra is the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else, so we end up chatting a lot about local news. Moving furniture around is very hard work, and our backs usually ache quite a bit by the end of a long day. We don't have a website or any online store. People just come down to Masjid Chowk when they need a new table or if an old chair needs fixing. We’ve been here for years and the building shows its age, but it stays standing.
