Express Sign

If you walk down Anand Bhawan Lane, you will probably hear the noise coming from our shop, Express Sign. We do a lot of cutting and sticking and painting here every day. It is a narrow lane, so sometimes getting materials delivered is a bit of a headache, but we make it work. The floor is usually covered in little scraps of vinyl or bits of metal that we’ve trimmed off. We don’t have a fancy front office; it is mostly just a big workshop where the actual work happens. People come in with an idea of what they want their shop front to look like, and we try to put it together for them. Sometimes the paint takes longer to dry because of the humidity, which can be annoying when we are in a hurry. We have a few old machines that still run better than the new ones we tried out. It is just a handful of us working here, and we have all got ink under our fingernails most of the time. Anand Bhawan Lane has a lot of small businesses like ours, so we all kind of look out for each other. We don't spend much on advertising because the signs we make for people usually speak for themselves. It is a messy, loud job, but it feels good to see something we made hanging up on a building. We just keep busy and get the orders out.
