Gems Polytechnic College

Out here in Ratnapura, things are a bit slow and quiet. We are in the Aurangabad district of Bihar and the college has been around for some time now. Gems Polytechnic College is a big building and you can see it from the road as you come into the area. We have students coming from all the small villages nearby to learn things like engineering and technical skills. The labs have some old machines and some newer ones too. It is not a very flashy place but it gets the job done for the kids who want to get a job later in life. We have a lot of dusty books in the library and the benches in the classrooms are made of wood and metal. During the rains, the ground outside gets a bit muddy so everyone has to be careful walking in through the gates. We have a small canteen where students sit and talk between their classes. The teachers here are mostly people who moved to this area for the work. We follow the usual syllabus and try to make sure everyone understands the practical parts of the course. It is a lot of hard work for the students because the exams are tough. We don't have fancy air conditioning in every room but the windows stay open for the breeze. The staff knows most of the students by their names because they stay here for three years. It is just a regular college trying to help people.
