Maa Vaishnav Marble

You can find us over at No. 1 Sc Mukherjee Street in Konn Nagar. We are tucked in near the fire brigade office here in Hubli. It’s a busy little spot. Being near the fire station means we hear the sirens quite a bit, which keeps things from being too quiet. We mainly deal with marble. The street isn't the widest, so when a big delivery comes, it takes a bit of coordination to get everything unloaded without blocking the whole road. My cousins and I run the place most days. We keep the slabs leaned up against the walls in the back. Customers come in and walk through the rows, touching the stones and asking about the patterns. We don't use any fancy sales talk. We just tell them what we have in stock today. If we don't have it, we try to find it. The shop is a bit old now, and the walls could probably use some paint, but the marble is what matters. We've lived in this district for years, so we know most of the people who walk past. It’s a regular neighborhood business. We close up when it gets dark and start all over again the next morning. Sometimes we sit outside on plastic chairs when the weather is nice. It’s just how we do things here. We don't have a secretary or anything, we just answer the phone ourselves and keep the business running.
