My father started this place years ago here in Konnagar. We’ve been at 76, S. C. Chatterjee Street for a long time now. People around the Hooghly district know where to find us. It’s a small setup really. Most days it’s just us handling the stock and talking to whoever walks in. Sometimes the street gets crowded, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We don’t have fancy offices or anything like that. Just a desk and some shelves full of what we sell. I remember when the building looked different. Now everything has changed around us but we stay right here. It’s hard work sometimes, keeping track of orders and making sure everything is in its place. We don't use big computers for everything, a lot is still done on paper. It works for us. If you come by, you’ll probably see me or my brother. We usually open early in the morning before the heat gets too bad. People come in for a chat as much as they do for business. That’s how a local place works, I guess. We try to keep things simple. No need for big speeches or clever words. Just honest daily work. The roof leaks a bit when it rains hard, but we manage. It's been our life for decades. We know the neighbors well. Everyone knows the Dutta family around here. It's just a regular business in a regular street.
