Singhason Hills Spices & Agro Producer Company Limited

Up in the hills, things are a bit different. Singhason Hills Spices & Agro Producer Company Limited is based out of Village Langparpan, near Longnit in the Bakalia area. Jivon Terang is the one we usually coordinate through. Living in the hills means we focus a lot on spices and things that grow well on the slopes. It is beautiful here, but the work is tough on the back. We formed this group because we wanted to make it easier to sell our spices without having to travel so far every time individually. The air is fresh, but the roads can be a real challenge, especially when it rains hard. We are not some big corporate entity from the city. We are just hill people who know how to grow ginger, turmeric, and other crops that like this soil. Most of our days are spent out in the patches, clearing weeds or harvesting. We meet at Jivon’s place to talk about how we are going to get the bags down to the main road. It is all very hands-on. We do not have a secretary or a lobby. It is just us sitting around talking about the rain and the crops. We do this because it is the only way we know how to live. We are proud of what grows in Langparpan, and we just want to keep doing it as long as the land lets us. There is no point in being fancy when the ground is steep.
