M B Store

M B Store is a small spot in Nongkrem - I Village. We are at Shop No.15, right near the Nongkrem Post Office. Being in the Mawryngkneng Block means we see a lot of the local folks from around the East Khasi Hills District. It’s a quiet area mostly, compared to the bigger towns. Our shop is just a basic room with shelves. We sell things that people in the village need for their daily lives. It’s nothing special to look at. Sometimes the deliveries take a while to get up here into the hills, so we run out of things occasionally. But we try to keep the basics in stock. The post office being close is handy because everyone stops by there anyway. We open up early and usually close when it gets dark. The weather out here in the East Khasi Hills can be a bit wet, so the shop is a good place to dry off sometimes. We don't have a website or anything like that. Most of our customers are neighbors or people passing through the village. It’s a family-run kind of thing. My cousin helps out when it’s busy. We spend a lot of time just chatting with people who come in for a bit of sugar or some soap. It’s a slow pace of life but we like it that way. If you’re in Nongkrem, you’ll find us easily enough. Just look for the shop number fifteen near the post office gate.
