Basdev Wale (Sweeteners)

Basdev Wale is our little spot in Moti Chowk. We deal in sweeteners, much like many of the old shops in this part of town. It’s a crowded area, but that’s where the people are. We’ve been here for a long time, and the shop hasn't changed much over the years. We have the same wooden counters and the same heavy scales we’ve always used. It’s a bit dusty, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. We sell to local families and some of the smaller sweet shops nearby. We don't have a website or a social media page. If you want to find us, you just have to come down to Moti Chowk and ask around. Everyone knows where we are. We aren't trying to sell anyone on some grand vision. We just provide what people need for their kitchens and businesses. Some days are slow, especially when it rains and the streets get muddy, but usually, it's quite busy. We spend our time checking the inventory and chatting with the neighbors. It’s a very local way of doing business, where your word matters more than a contract. We take pride in the fact that we’ve been part of this community for so long without needing to change who we are. It’s just us, working every day in the same corner.
