Unique Poha Manufacturer Company

Out here in Chaubey Colony, you can usually find us working away at the Unique Poha Manufacturer Company. Making poha is a bit more involved than people think. It starts early when the air is still a bit cool, which is good because the machines generate a lot of heat once they get going. The whole place smells like grain and earth, which is something you just get used to after a while. We have a few big machines that do the heavy work of flattening the rice, and there’s always a bit of dust floating around the floor. It’s not the quietest job, but it’s steady. We spend a lot of time checking the flakes to make sure they are just right, not too thin and not breaking apart. Most of our day is spent moving heavy sacks around and keeping an eye on the equipment. Sometimes a machine breaks down or needs a part, and then things get a bit stressful while we try to fix it ourselves. The colony is mostly quiet, so we try not to be too loud during the odd hours. We have a small area where we keep the finished bags ready for the trucks. It’s just honest work, really. We don’t spend much time on fancy talk; we just focus on the rice and getting it packed up so it can go out to the markets.
