Birla Ericsson Optical Limited

Our place is located in Udyog Vihar over in Chorhata. It’s a bit out of the main town, which makes the morning commute a bit quieter than if we were in the middle of a city. Birla Ericsson Optical Limited is a big name, but on the ground here, it feels more like a community. We have a lot of people from the surrounding villages and towns who come here to work. The focus is on optical cables, which sounds very high-tech, and it is, but the atmosphere inside is pretty grounded. We have long corridors and big halls filled with equipment. You’ll see people in uniforms walking around with clipboards, just making sure everything is running. It’s not like those movies where everything is silent; there’s always a hum of machinery in the background. We have a canteen where everyone gathers at noon, and that’s where you hear the real stories about family and local news. We don’t really go in for big corporate speeches. Most of us just want to do a good job and get home to our families. The P.O. Chorhata area has become a bit of a hub because of places like ours. We’ve been here long enough that we feel like a permanent part of the dirt and the trees around the facility. It’s a steady, predictable life for the most part.
