Soni & Sons has been down by the Old Bus Stand for a long time. If you know the area, you’ve probably walked past us a hundred times. It’s a bit of a chaotic spot with all the buses coming and going, but it’s where we’ve always been. The shop is small and filled with stuff from floor to ceiling. We don’t have a fancy display or modern lighting. It’s mostly just shelves and us behind the counter. We’ve seen generations of families come through our door. The dust from the bus stand gets in everywhere, so we’re always cleaning, but it’s a losing battle. We don't use computers for everything; a lot of our notes are still on paper. It’s just easier that way for us. We aren't trying to change the world or anything. We just open up in the morning and wait for people to stop by. Sometimes it’s busy and we can’t even take a break for lunch. Other times, we just sit and watch the people outside. It’s a very local life. We know the other shopkeepers around the Old Bus Stand and we all look out for each other. We don’t have a big marketing plan. People know we are here because we’ve always been here. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living, and we’re okay with that. The noise of the engines is something we don't even notice anymore. We just keep doing what we do.
