We are right in the middle of the Sabji Mandi here in Rewa. If you are near Statue Chowk, you are basically right there. Our shop is called Guru Kirana, and we've been selling groceries from this same spot for quite a while. Being in the vegetable market means our day starts very early, often while it's still dark outside. We have to get the shop ready before the main crowd arrives to buy their vegetables. The air around here always smells like a mix of fresh greens and the spices we keep in our large sacks. We sell things like rice, lentils, oils, and all the basic stuff people need for their kitchens. The shop is small and the shelves are packed all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes it's a bit of a struggle to reach the items on the top shelf, but we have a small ladder for that. We don't have any computers; we still write everything down in our notebooks and use a manual scale for some of the bulk items. Customers usually stop by for a chat while they wait for us to weigh their dal or pack their sugar. It’s a very social place, especially in the mornings. It can get a bit messy with the burlap bags and the occasional spill, but we sweep it up when we can. It’s just a regular local shop serving the neighborhood.
