Ramnaresh General Store

We are in Ward No-9 in Rayagada. Our shop, Ramnaresh General Store, is quite close to Beersheba Church. You can see the church from our front step. It’s a decent neighborhood. Most of the people living around here come to us for their daily needs. We keep salt, sugar, soap, and all those basic things. The store is a bit dark inside because the sun doesn't hit this side of the building much. I use a small tubelight over the counter. My chair is old and creaks when I sit down. I spend most of my morning checking what got sold yesterday. Rayagada gets dusty, so I spend time dusting the bottles on the top shelves. They are hard to reach. Sometimes kids come in with coins for candy. They take a long time to choose. I don't mind much, it gives me a break from the paperwork. When the church has a service, the street gets full of parked cycles. It makes it hard for the delivery truck to get to us. We have to carry the boxes from the main road. My arms get tired from that. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, maybe next year. We just try to keep enough stock so people don't have to go all the way to the big market. It’s a quiet life here in Ward No-9. We know most of the families by their faces and their usual orders.
