S S Engineering House

The shop is right opposite the Ram Mandir in the Jhalar Bawri area of Rawat Bhata. It’s a dusty part of Chittorgarh, but we like it here. We deal with all sorts of engineering parts and tools that people need for their machines. The shelves are filled with heavy metal items, and everything has that slight smell of machine oil. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, but we know exactly which drawer holds which bolt or bearing. We get a lot of people coming in from the nearby sites looking for specific spare parts. Sometimes they bring the broken piece with them so we can match it up. The fan in the ceiling makes a bit of a clicking sound, but it keeps the air moving during the hot afternoons. We sit on old wooden stools and talk to the customers while we look through the inventory. It’s a practical kind of business. We don't spend money on fancy decorations or soft carpets because they wouldn't last a day with all the metal we move around. My hands are usually a bit greasy by lunch, but that is just part of working at S S Engineering House. We open up early in the morning just as the temple across the road starts getting busy. It’s a good routine we have. Most days are steady, just one person after another needing something fixed or replaced.
