Madhuma Foods

Our place, Madhuma Foods, is located at Plot No 20 in Shindkheda. We are right across the street from the V.K. Patil International School. You can hear the school bell ringing all day from where we sit. It gets very loud in the afternoons when all the parents are waiting on Station Road to pick up their kids. We started this business because we wanted to do something local. It is mostly just packing and handling different food items throughout the week. The building we are in is nothing special, just a concrete structure with a heavy iron shutter that sticks sometimes. We spend a lot of time cleaning up because food attracts ants if you aren't careful. Shindkheda is a small enough town where everyone knows everyone’s business, so we try to keep things quiet and just do our work. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few hours in the afternoon, and we just sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. It's not a fast-paced life, but it keeps us busy enough. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It's just us and a couple of helpers from the neighborhood. We make sure the bags are sealed right and that the floor is swept before we head home. It is honest work and it fills the day. We don't need much more than that to be happy.
