Down here in Ratnagiri, things move at a slightly different pace than in the bigger cities. Our office is located right in the middle of things, and we’ve been part of the local scene for a good while now. Construction work in this part of India means dealing with the monsoon and the rough terrain, which is never easy. We spend most of our time out in the field checking on the progress of various sites. When we are back at the office, it’s mostly about sorting out the logistics and making sure the labor is sorted for the next week. It’s a small team, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything. One day you might be looking at a map, and the next you’re out talking to a driver who got stuck. We don’t have a fancy reception or anything like that. People just walk in if they have business with us. We try to stay organized, but with so many moving parts in infrastructure, there’s always something that needs fixing or a plan that has to change at the last minute. It’s honest work and it keeps the local guys busy. We know the area well, and that helps when we have to figure out how to get heavy machinery through some of the narrower roads around here. It's just a regular office doing regular work.
