United Konkan Foundation

We are over at house number 3217 in Ghawanewadi. It is a quiet spot in Lanja, right here in the Ratnagiri district. Most of us here grew up seeing the greenery and the red soil that this part of Maharashtra is known for. The foundation started because some of us from the village wanted to do something locally instead of just moving away to the big cities like everyone else does these days. It is not a fancy office or anything like that. We just use the space we have available to get things done. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power goes out, but that is just how life is in the Konkan region. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors and the people from nearby villages. There is always someone dropping by with a question or just to say hello. It feels more like a community gathering place than a formal foundation most days. We focus on the practical things people around here need help with. We don't have a big team of experts, just local folks who know the land and the people. If you are ever passing through Lanja, you can find us easily enough. People know where the Ghawanes stay. We keep things simple and try to be useful where we can without making too much noise about it. That’s pretty much how we operate day to day.
