Snehajyoti Nivasi Blind School

Snehajyoti Nivasi Blind School is located in Mandangad, within the Ratnagiri district. This is a rural part of the country, surrounded by the hills and greenery of the Konkan region. Our school is a quiet place, quite different from the busy schools in the cities. Because it is a residential school, the kids live here with us, so it feels more like a large household than a formal institution. The building is humble and built to withstand the heavy rains we get in this part of Maharashtra. We don't have a lot of resources, so we make do with what we have. The staff is made up of local people who are dedicated to helping the students with their daily lives and their studies. We don't have any marketing brochures or a team of people to promote what we do. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks like cooking meals, teaching basic skills, and keeping the place clean. The students spend their time learning to navigate the world, and we are there to help them. Life here moves slowly, following the rhythm of the seasons. Sometimes it’s a struggle to get everything we need because we are so far from the main supply lines, but the local community helps us out when they can. It’s a simple, honest place where we try to provide a home and a future for the kids who stay with us. That is just how we work.
