Laxmi Rice Mill

Laxmi Rice Mill is based in Tale, right on the Mumbai Goa Highway in Ratnagiri. Being so close to the highway means we see a lot of different people passing by every day. It’s a very green area, especially when the rains come, though the humidity can be a bit much for the machinery sometimes. Our mill is a simple structure made for hard work. We don’t have any decorations or a nice lobby. It’s just a place where we process rice. The floor is concrete and there are always bags of grain stacked up against the walls. We don’t have any marketing materials or a fancy logo. We just have our name on the front of the building. Most of our work is with the farmers from the nearby villages. We know most of them pretty well since they’ve been coming here for years. It’s a straightforward way of life. We wake up early, get the machines started, and work until we’re done. Sometimes the highway traffic gets backed up and it’s noisy, but we don’t mind. We don’t have any corporate office or anyone telling us what to do. It’s just a family business that’s been around for a while. We focus on the daily tasks and don’t worry about much else. It’s a quiet, honest living away from the big cities. We just keep doing what we do best.
