Our office is at house number 1357 in Swami Nagar, located in the Khedshi area of Ratnagiri. It’s a nice enough spot, away from the main noise of the town but still easy to get to. We have set up in a residential area, so it feels more like a home than a stiff office. We have a couple of rooms where we keep our files and the computers we use for the Nidhi work. People from around Ratnagiri come by when they want to put some money aside or ask about how the Nidhi works. We don't use any complicated talk, just explain things simply as they are. The work involves a lot of record-keeping and checking the names and amounts. We have been at this location for a while now. Most days are pretty much the same, filled with entries and talk with the neighbors. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything, so we just rely on people knowing where we are. The Swami Nagar neighborhood is fairly quiet, which is good for us because we need to concentrate on the accounts. We make sure to keep the files organized and the office clean. It’s a practical way to run a business in this part of India. We just take it one day at a time and do the best we can with the records we have. Sometimes the rain in Ratnagiri gets really heavy and we have to make sure the windows are shut tight so the ledger papers don't get damp.
